Hyderabad's Radio City 91.1FM welcomed the Festival of Lights through a touching community mobilisation initiative celebrating peace and harmony in Hyderabad. Uniting the city of Hyderabad, the FM station organised the 'Diwali for Peace' celebrations yesterday which saw more than 500 of Hyderabad's Radio Cityzens converging at Tank Bund on the banks of Hussain Sagar to form a glowing human chain of light. Also in attendance as Chief Guest, was the Additional Commissioner of Police, Mr. V.S.K. Kaumudi.

Starting 6:30PM onwards, Tank Bund was a vision to behold with the gentle flickering of hundreds of candles as Hyderabad's Radio Cityzens formed a human chain and lit candles passing on the flame from one to another. The ACP Mr. Kaumudi lit the first candle and passed it to on to a visually challenged child from Sunethra School for Visually Challenged. Also joining listeners and over 30 visually challenged children from the school was the Radio City team including Programming Head Ms. Manuja Verma and Hyderabad's favourite Radio Jockeys - RJ Vamsee (City Sunrise), RJ Sameer (Radio City Breakfast Show), RJ Sudha (City Spice) and RJ Gouthami (Meeru Neenu).

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Rana Barua, National Head - Marketing, Radio City 91.1FM said, "This Diwali, we wanted to commemorate the occasion with our listeners a little differently. The idea was to connect with them on a larger humanitarian level and engage them in an activity sensitized to the needs of the society we live in. In keeping up with the spirit of the day, we received great participation from our listeners and I'm certain that they enjoyed the celebrations. On this momentous occasion, we at Radio City extend Diwali wishes to all our listeners and pray the year brings everyone peace and prosperity."

To conclude this initiative, all participants inscribed their peace messages for Hyderabad on a special 'Radio City Diwali for Peace' banner which will be presented to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Balvinder Singh at a later point in time. Keeping Hyderabad updated on the proceedings of the evening, the Radio City team connected with RJ Anuj for live out-broadcasts on Radio City Joyride.
