Amrita TV to air 'classic kathakal' from June 30

Amrita TV is set to air evergreen literary classics dramatised and rendered into serial format for the mini-screen in the form of a series under the title 'Classic Kathakal'.

Amrita TV has identified classic stories and novels from Indian literature with well-known directors and actors with a view to promoting tasteful human interest serials as also revive public interest in unforgettable literary works.

Amrita TV will start telecasting 'Classic Kathakal' from June 30 on weekdays on prime time(Mon-Fri 7 pm).

The first in the series is the evergreen classic serial, 'Aranaazhika Neram', written by the famous Malayalam writer, Parappuram,which is a prescribed text book in Kerala University.Filmed in rural authentic settings, the 40-episode classic will feature noted Malayalam film actor,Bharath Murali.

In 'Aranaazhika Neram',through the eyes of the protagonist Kunjanachan, a south Indian village patriarch,played by Murali, the serial gives an insight into the emotional lives of a cross-section of the family members ,who encounter difficult tensions resulting from people struggling with social morality and desire.

In the past, Amrita TV had serialised stories authored  by noted writer,M.T.Vasudevan Nair, in the series 'M T Kathakal', which was a collection of several stories capturing the social ethos of Kerala in its various dimensions.

'Classic Kathakal' is another step in Amrita TV's initiative to create a growing audience base for a tasteful entertainment channel.
