Hindi Programming Guide exclusively on Tata Sky

Adding yet another distinctive feature in the offering of interactive services to the subscribers, Tata Sky Ltd., the joint venture between the TATA Group and STAR, today announced the launch of the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) in Hindi absolutely free of cost. It is the first time that any Direct-To-Home (DTH) service provider in the world has taken up such an initiative in a regional language.

With this first-of-its-kind globally, with this launch Tata Sky has expanded the horizon to connect with the viewers in the country. Taking into account the Hindi speaking population in India which still comprises of about 40%, the EPG launched in “Hindi” - the national language of our country, will help connect to the viewers instantly.

The Tata Sky subscribers will now have an option to choose to navigate the television listings either in English or Hindi. The viewer with the help of the remote can easily select the language and save the settings. Option of the Hindi language is mainly to make the guide user friendly and it helps the viewers to choose the programme of their choice quicker.

Commenting on the launch of this new initiative, Mr. Vikram Mehra, Chief Marketing Officer, Tata Sky Ltd. said, “It is our constant endeavour to provide innovative and value added services to our subscribers. The launch of Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) in Hindi is yet another step towards our vision of offering something unique and bringing convenience to our customers. We are positive that the Hindi EPG will enhance the television viewing pleasure of our subscribers.”

Tata Sky has ensured that all functionalities and navigation remain the same. The changes have been made only in the language of the Guide. Genre names on the main Guide Menu like entertainment, movies, sports etc have been modified into Hindi along with navigation instructions, programme names and the programme information will be in Hindi too.
