Says Alex Kuruvilla, Managing Director, Condè Nast India, “It’s been a remarkable year at Conde Nast India. Whether it’s the incredibly talented team that we have put together, the world-class content we have created, the powerful brand equity we have established or the very impressive roster of clients that grace the covers of Vogue. All this has led to one thing – fantastic business results, close to operational breakeven in our first full year of operations. Time to celebrate!”

In just 12 months, Vogue India has created a new standard for production quality. Global fashion trends are decoded and adapted for local audiences, and regular catwalk supplements - Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, showcase the latest must-have designs right when they’re available in stores. Feature stories are insightful and intelligent, capturing current society with perspective. From architecture and design to food and travel, Vogue knows just what’s in, and why.

Vogue’s covers are the most talked about - from Bollywood queens to celebrities and soap opera stars, each cover is unique. All editions have been packed with fashionable women from India and across the world, helping readers evolve and celebrate individual style. It is a little wonder that Vogue is now widely considered India’s fashion bible.

Says Priya Tanna, Editor, Vogue India, “The Vogue reader is a symbol of the new, urban India. She’s intelligent, affluent, well-travelled and social. She considers herself part of an elite community of women with taste and sees fashion and luxury as necessary components of updating her lifestyle. Vogue celebrates a rising, new India”

Vogue is the only lifestyle publication in India to have an audited, proven and continuous print run of 50,000 copies every month since its launch in October 2007. Exclaims Oona Dhabhar, Marketing Director Condè Nast India, “This is a breakthrough development in magazine publishing in India, one that Condé Nast is committed to maintaining, in order to create truthful partnerships with consumers and advertisers.”

Vogue India broke the norm of low-cost, low-impact marketing by investing in above-the-line activities such as splashy billboards across cities and eye-catching point-of-sale displays. Vogue India retails at more than 5,500 outlets across India, and has disproportionately high sales in metros like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. In order to cater to the rising demand for Vogue India in international markets, it is also available in cities like New York, London, Paris, Milan and Dubai.

Adds Arjun Mehra, Publisher Vogue India, “The past year has seen record numbers in advertising - the highest any luxury magazine in India has achieved. Our anniversary issue has over 200 pages of advertising, with a total pagination of over 450 pages, a record breaker in its own right.”

Celebrating Vogue’s anniversary, the Glamour issue cover has been graced by the most adored face in India & internationally – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan photographed by Farrokh Chothia. She is India’s most glamorous face, and hailed by many as the most beautiful woman in the world.

Speaking on her experience shooting for Vogue India’s Glamour issue, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said, “Glamour is innate - it’s an extension of your attitude, your persona. You’ve got to be yourself. Any veneer you have will crack, eventually. It’s got to stand the test of time.”

Adds Priya Tanna, Editor Vogue India, “Right from our selection of India’s 50 most glamorous women to our exclusive interviews with Marc Jacobs, Shah Rukh Khan and John Galliano, this issue is packed with the world’s most glamorous people—people for whom India is inspiring and exciting. Who better to grace the cover of this mega-issue than India’s most famous and beautiful face, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who stopped in the middle of her successful Unforgettable tour to shoot her first Vogue cover and talk with us about how glamour has changed her life.”
