Star Pravah unveils eight extraordinary shows

Star Entertainment Media Private Limited (SEMPL) launches Star Pravah, the new Marathi General Entertainment Channel etching a new chapter in regional television. Featuring innovative programs with the amalgamation of realism and wholesome family entertainment, STAR Pravah aims to capture the essence and cultural depth of the Marathi hinterland through its programming initiatives.

After the recent announcement of the driver show, Raja Shivchatrapati,SEMPL showcases eight new shows on Star Pravah featuring some of the most distinguished stars and eminent producers from the Marathi entertainment industry. The eight shows include Agnihotra, Goshta Eka Lagnachi, J3 Junction, Jyvalaga, Kulaswamini, Ase ka ghadle, Kukuchku and Star Darbar.

The launch event was attended by the key star cast of the eight shows. Gracing their presence at the event were legends like Vikram Gokhale, Mohan Agashe, Smita Talwalkar, Vinay Apte to stars like Teja Deokar, Meghana Erande, Vidyadhar Joshi, Omkar Karve amongst others.

Speaking at the unveiling of its new shows, J. C. Giri, Executive Vice-President and General Manager, SEMPL said, “Pravah means flow in Marathi. The channel reflects the cultural pride of the people of Maharashtra and echoes the aspirations of each generation. Our programming line-up has been crafted meticulously with deep insights and understanding of the nuances of Marathi culture in a way that every show touches a chord in the viewers. In keeping with the STAR tradition of creating superlative television content, we are confident that STAR Pravah will set benchmarks in multi-genre content on regional television. “

STAR Pravah will feature programmes such as talk shows, historical epics and comedy shows. The USP of the channel will be realism, depicted through multi-genre original content that is contemporary, progressive and reflects the life of the people of Maharashtra.

The channel will commence with the launch of its big ticket, driver show RAJA SHIVCHATRAPATI, an epic tale of the Maratha warrior, Shivaji. Filmed on a grand scale by renowned art director and producer, Nitin Desai, the epic hopes to set new standards in Marathi entertainment. It is produced by CPPL. Similarly the other seven shows will have a perfect blend of the rich and traditional Marathi ethos woven with innovative and technically cutting edge production values.

Agnihotra:

It’s an emotional family drama of three generations that revolves around the lead protagonist’s search for his roots. Backed with a huge star cast, the show will transcend into the past and present giving the viewers a feeling of nostalgia. The show is being produced by Indian Magic Eye Pvt. Ltd and directed by Shrirang Godbole. Agnihotra has a huge line up of Marathi stars that include Mohan Agashe, Mohan Joshi, Vikram Gokhale, Vinay Apte, Girish Oak, Suhas Joshi, Manasi Magikar, Ila Bhate, Shubhangi Gokhale and Meghana Vaidya. The stalwarts portray the older generation in the story. The young generation is played by a brand new cast of Siddhart Chandekar, Mrunmyee Deshpande, Prachi Mate, Astad Kale and Mrunmyee Godbole.

Goshta Eka Lagnachi

Introducing a new format of 24 episode series, Goshta Eka Lagnachi is the first to be showcased. A virtual roller coaster ride of emotions in which the female-lead fights to overcome the hurdles of tradition to protect her right of ‘being a woman’. Moving forward, this series of 24 episodes each will take up issues that have social and cultural relevance to contemporary society. The unique feature of these series are that serious issues like girl child, infanticides, gender discrimination and women empowerment are tackled to create awareness. The show is being produced by Asmita Chitra and directed by Sanjay Surkar. The cast for Goshta Eka Lagnachi includes Smita Talwalkar, Ravindra Mankani, Pradeep Velankar, Meghana Vaidya. Urmila Kanetkar has been cast in the lead role of Roopa, while Ashutosh Kulkarni has been cast opposite Urmila.

J 3 Junction

A roller coaster ride of emotions and comedy, J 3 Junction will have the viewers in splits. It showcases a combination of varied humour ranging from tongue-in-cheek to satirical to laughing out loud. It is an interesting tale of three women having super-natural powers and how they unite together to end up the crime in the city of Mumbai. Produced by Siddhivinay Cinevision and Directed by Viraj Raje, the show features Priya Berde, Meghana Erande, Jaywant Wadkar, Kamlakar Satpute, Vijay Chavan, Bharat Ganeshpure and Jitendra Joshi in leading roles.

Kulaswamini

A beautiful story that captures a range of emotions experienced in the journey called life. The show revolves around the main protagonist who has immense faith in her Kulswamini – the goddess who has always protected her. The battle of justice and the protection of family interests leads to an interesting climax in the story. The show is being produced by Smita Thackray of Rahul Productions and directed by Prashant Sonawne. It has a star cast of Teja Deokar, Omkar Karve, Shilpa Navalakar, Swapnil Rajshekhar and many more.

Asa Ka Ghadle

For the first time on Indian television, Ase Ka Ghadle, is a fiction show that eventually culminates into a talk show. The show will begin as a half hourly fictionalized depiction of an issue and culminate into a one hour talk show hosted by Vighnesh Joshi. A unique culmination of fiction and non-fiction, Ase Ka Ghadle will discuss pertinent issues facing society today and attempt to provide a positive solution to the same. The show promises to create a rage.

Kukuchku

Completing the star-studded line-up of these shows is one that is a combination of the typical Marathi culture and humour. Emotions and humor are the two main elements of this show depicted through a typical Marathi middle class family called ‘Charchare Family’. In the show that depicts reality through humor, Dr Girish Oak and Shubhangi Gokhale will be the heads of the Charchare Family. Their sons and daughters are played by Anand Ingle, Girish Pardesi, Snehalata Tawde, Shekhar Phadke and Rahul Kulkarni. Sunil Tawde will play the role of the next door uncle. The show is being produced by Rakesh Sarang of Cams Club and directed by Ajay Korde.

Star Darbar

A fun filled talk show in which renowned Maharashtrian personalities are interviewed every episode by the one and only Prashant Damle. Known for his tongue-in-cheek inimitable humour, Damle will grill the personalities in his unique witty style. This is a talk show that brings together famous personalities at their candid best. It is produced by Anuradha Prasad of BAG Films.

Jyvalaga

Jyvalaga is a love story that turns into a revenge saga. It revolves around Swati, a simple college going girl from a middle class background who falls in love with Ranjit Gadkari, the spoilt brat of a business tycoon. In the course of time, the love story takes a twist and Swati finds herself moving on in life. The show is produced by Shashank Solanki of Seventhsense Media and directed by Mandar Deosthali.
