Get ready to enter the magical world of Animation. India’s first round-the-clock Japanese animation channel, ‘Animax’, today announced a unique and exciting treat to schoolchildren in the form of an animation workshop. The Animax Animation Course is aimed at introducing school kids and their art teachers to the fascinating world of animation, its production and techniques.

Animax has roped in renowned names in the field of animation in India like Shilpa Ranade (IIT Bombay), Dennis Deegan (Dean, Toonz Webel Academy, Kolkata), Aatish Tripathi (Co-founder, Parijat Animation Academy), Prince Paikattu (Head of Animation Training, Padmalaya Telefilms Ltd, Hyderabad) and Shrirang Sathaye (Animation Director, Visual Computing Labs).

The Animax Animation workshop is organised jointly with Indiantelevision.com’s Animation ‘xpress.

The Animax-animation workshop will be conducted in Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The workshop will invite the 500 participating schools of ‘Get Irfan To School Contest’, to nominate 2 of their most deserving students to participate in along with their art teacher. In Mumbai Shilpa Ranade will conduct the workshop at Holy Name High.

“The students will be introduced to the basics of animation, animation techniques and different types of animation,” says Shilpa Ranade, Asst Prof IDC, IIT Bombay.

The workshop will kick off simultaneously from the capital city - Delhi and Bangalore on 11th and 12th February followed by Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai, on 18th and 19th February.

“Animax is committed to not only show animation to the children but also introduce them to the nuances of animation techniques. In this way we hope to channelise the creativity among the Indian kids so that they can consider animation as a career opportunity,” says Rohit Bhandari, Asst. Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Animax and AXN.

The ‘Get Irfan to School’ contest by Animax was organised in December last year. The contest had gained an overwhelming response from the school children. Out of the 4,00,000 students approached for the contest nearly 1,00,000 responded to the contest. Six winning schools from Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore got an opportunity to meet their favourite cricketing idol, Irfan Pathan.
