With 17 per cent of the world's human capital, is free-market capitalism the only way for India to become an economic superpower?

These and many such questions will be answered on a new series of India Business Report on BBC World. The special series of India Business Report, dubbed India The Road Ahead starts on Sunday, March 9 (11.00 am). Using video essays, a format new to India, venture capitalist and author Gurcharan Das makes his case for greater globalisation, Swadeshi Jagran Manch leader Swaminathan Gurumurthy takes the opposite view and Professor Prabhat Patnaik of the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning in Delhi argues that India's large but chaotic public distribution system is the key to many of its problems. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, the man at the sharp end of the equation between planning and policy-implementation, also contributes to the debate arguing that the state needs to improve the lives of those at the bottom of the heap.

Says Narendhra Morar, Commissioning Editor, BBC World, "What makes the new format video essay show compelling viewing is the new and well-thought out perspective that the specialists present on issues that impact every Indian at the end of the day."
