Mukhyamantri? ‘Kahiye Netaji’ provides a proper public platform during elections where people can pose direct questions to the top leadership of their state.

In its latest episode, Kahiye Netaji headed to Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, with guests from both Congress and BJP. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was face to face with the public, and bombarded with questions that varied in issues from the scarcity of electricity to the price rise, women’s security to corruption allegation on him and his ministers.

Congress leaders were conspicuous by their absence. None from the top leadership turned up but for Congress spokesperson Manak Aggrawal and a few MLAs, who tried to fill the void. The highlight of the show were the detailed discussions on major issues like rural Madhya Pradesh not getting enough power due to a gap in supply and consumption. CM Shivraj Chauhan refuted the allegation by saying that the power situation was better now than what BJP had inherited from the last Congress regime and also half a dozen new units are at the threshold of getting ready, which will improve the situation.

From the very onset of the show, viewers were hooked to it. The show started with the CM being bombarded with charges of corruption. He was subjected to questions by Manak Aggrawal and his associates regarding the dumper scam in which Shivraj Singh and his wife both are under the scanner. A lady in the audience also raised the issue of an MLA ridiculing a woman.

The issue of price rise was a tedious one, with Congress trying to raise the questions and Shivraj Chauhan trying to counter it by blaming it on the central government’s faulty policies. In all, the episode saw a lot of heated arguments, ideological differences and blame-swapping, with both sides giving as good as they were getting, and the public getting a very good opportunity to raise all its concerns.
