DQ Entertainment International (DQE), the internationally acclaimed and AIM listed animation entertainment company, and Moonscoop one of the world’s leading independent animation producers, today announced the signing of a bi-partite co-production deal for the production of Tara Duncan a 2D animated TV series, during the visit of Nicolas Atlan, CEO, Moonscoop, to DQE in Hyderabad, India. The series will have a global production budget of $8.32 million.

M6, the second largest private French broadcaster and Disney, will be the broadcast partners for this production. This is the 4th TV series between the two companies after the announcement of the strategic alliance between the two companies last year. The alliance that aims to capitalize on the individual business networks and production expertise of both groups, has seen fructification after Moonscoop and DQE began working together on the animated TV series Casper’s Scare School, co-produced with Classic Media. The two companies also worked together successfully on The Fantastic Four animated series based on the famous superheroes from Marvel and with MoonScoop’s US office on Twisted Whiskers a co-production with American Greetings and the hit animated series ToddWorld.

Tapaas Chakravarti, Chairman & CEO, DQE Group said “The functionality of our partnership with Moonscoop has been proven once again. Together we will produce world class animation for television productions as well as feature films. We are also jointly exploring producing Indian content in live action as well as animation to further extend our relationship with Moonscoop.”

Expressing his conviction, Christophe di Sabatino, co-Chairman, Moonscoop said, “Our faith in DQ Entertainment as a suitable partner in today’s highly competitive marketplace has been reinforced with the signing of this new co-production between the 2 groups. We have a great track record and hope to extend our working partnership on several other projects”

“This deal is in logical progression of our ongoing relationship with DQE,” added Nicolas Atlan, CEO, Moonscoop. “We have successfully collaborated on Casper and the Fantastic Four TV series. We hope that Tara Duncan will be yet another successful partnership. Each of our companies brings something unique to this agreement which we think will ultimately benefit not only our companies, but our broadcast and licensing partners, as well.”

Tara Duncan, based on the best selling book by Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian, is a co-production between the DQE and Moonscoop, slated to go into production by June this year. Tara Duncan is a children’s fantasy series touted as Harry Potter’s little French sister. Tara Duncan, which is the name of the heroine of the series, is a young girl, who discovers by chance that she is a “sortcelière” (those who can bind fates) with very powerful capacities. Tara will discover a world of magic and supernatural, with its risks and dangers. Adventure, humour and magic: with the adventures of the young witch Tara Duncan, published in more than ten countries, Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian has already conquered the hearts of thousands of readers.
