BharatMatrimony.com, India’s No 1 matrimony portal which hosts over 15 million profiles from across the globe today shared an interesting trend on - 'Prospective brides from across India'. The most intriguing statistic from the report is the significant growth in usage of online matrimony by women in Tier II and Tier III cities.

The number of registrations from Tier II and Tier III cities has risen by 34.6% over the previous year outpacing the 16% growth in registrations from Tier I cities. Apart from the increase in Internet penetration, this growth has been the result of a conscious effort made by BharatMatrimony.com to make the traditional process of matchmaking easier for its users and educate them about its benefits. A region-wise break-up shows that the growth in usage by women in Tier II and Tier III is a countrywide phenomenon and is not restricted to any particular pocket. Drilling down into the data reveals those cities where this trend is the most prominent.

North

1) The Northern part of India has seen some large upswings in growth of registrations by women in some towns – Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh), and Muktsar (Punjab) have witnessed growths of 121%, 150% and 189% respectively.

2) The town of Sitamarhi (Bihar) too witnessed a 77% growth in number of registrations.

West

1) In Maharashtra, registrations from the city of Nandurbar have gone up by 175%.

2) In Gujarat, registrations from the city of Valsad have gone up by 38%.

3) In Rajasthan, registrations from the city of Chittorgarh have gone up by 116%.

South

1) In Tamil Nadu, registrations from the cities of Dharmapuri, Theni and Tiruvallur have gone up by 63%, 77% and 95% respectively.

2) In Kerala, registrations from the cities of Kannur, Malappuram and Wayanad have gone up by 54%, 60% and 61% respectively.

3) In Karnataka, registrations from the city of Haveri have gone up by 57%.

4) In Andhra Pradesh, registrations from the city of Medak have gone up by 48%.

East

1) In Assam, registration from the cities of Sonitpur, Jorhat and Tinsukia have gone up by 94%, 95% and 110% respectively.
