Lovable and utterly charming, Fatih Akin’s In July is a romantic road movie is a comedic, heart-warming reminder that sometimes; true love is right under your nose. July, a sassy street vendor promises Daniel, a shy young German professor, that he will find love if he buys a Mayan ring from her. July hopes that Daniel will fall in love with her, but is heartbroken when Daniel finds love at first sight with Melek, a beautiful Turkish stranger. Determined to follow Melek to Istanbul, Daniel unexpectedly offers a ride to July, who is hitchhiking to forget her heartbreak. The two set off on a journey that will see them lose their money, his car and almost each other. Even a near-arrest by border guards (played by Fatih Akin and his brother) doesn’t take Daniel off course; such is his determination to find the love of his life.
