Looking at more ways to get your child to eat healthy, have fun with food; learn more about important skills of life; discover, explore and understand new places and things? Now, get some help from the lovable muppets of Galli Galli Sim Sim, as Googly, Chamki, Boombah, Elmo and their friends lend a hand to enhance your child's learning, in the new brand season of Galli Galli Sim Sim, launching on 7 December, Monday-Friday, at 8:30 a.m. on POGO. The show will also air on Cartoon Network at 8:30 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday on the national broadcaster, Doordarshan.

In sync with the show's objective of spreading smiles, season IV of Galli Galli Sim Sim was launched amidst song, dance and laughter of children aged 3-6 years who interacted with their beloved muppets of the renowned series namely, Chamki, Aanchoo, Boombah, Googly, Bollywood Dude, Toto and Elmo. The muppets announced the season kick off, including 35 new episodes, which while maintaining the emphasis on developing literacy and other cognitive skills will focus on health, nutrition and bio diversity.
Highlighting the theme of Season IV, Sashwati Banerjee- Executive Director, Sesame Workshop India, said, “Children acquire life-long habits which generally are formulated in their early childhood. The social development indicators of Health, Hygiene and Nutrition are important primary goals which need to be definitely addressed in a country like ours. Galli Galli Sim Sim has capabilities and appeal to cut across various sections of the Indian society and the season IV of our TV series and our outreach programme will highlight the need of these primary goals to children and their parents across the nation.”
With the need for attention on environmental issues, Season IV will address the importance of Health and Bio Diversity amongst the children. The episodes are designed to increase a child's understanding of the nature and environment around them. Season will have increased impetus on interactive learning. Chamki and Googly will talk to children about what fruits, vegetables and other foods will help them Go, Grow and Glow; Boombah and Aanchoo will acquaint them with animal habitats that will help them learn to classify and categorize important skills for life and Elmo and Toto in their characteristic fun and entertaining way will help them discover new places.

The edutainment series, a balanced mix of fun, interactivity and learning, will have three segments - Galli ki Duniya, Muppet on location and Word of the day across a 22 minute episode. In Galli ki Duniya, children will experience the fun world of muppets and learn healthy habits from them, Muppet on location, will see the antics of Grover and Toto as they travel all over the world and in Word of the Day, Elmo will teach a new word in each episode in his exciting and unique way.
Emphasising on the response of the series, Niret Alva, Chairman, Miditech, the production company for Galli Galli Sim Sim said, “The series is a perfect mix of entertainment and education and has cut across children of age group 3-6 years seamlessly. The preschoolers love the interactivity and fun element in learning and relate to the muppets on air. The entire look and feel of the series, integration of colors and animation on the sets and the show format has been so designed to suit the viewing habits of these children.”
The Galli Galli Sim Sim project, apart from the television show, has an extensive outreach programme that reaches out to over 500,000 children resident in the urban slums of India. The Galli Galli Sim Sim Mobile Community Viewing (MCV) events reach children and caregivers in urban slums, who may lack access to television, providing key messages on literacy, maths and health, and advocating the importance of early education. These events, which reached close to half a million children and caregivers in 2007 and 2008, are accompanied by activities, materials, and workshops for childcare centers through partnerships with nonprofit and government organizations. The Project also develops educational materials that are distributed to childcare centers through partnerships with other nonprofit organizations and the government.
