It's that time of the year again to celebrate excellence and to felicitate music maestros of the Indian music industry. Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM presents its second edition of Mirchi Music Awards.

This year, the Music Awards will be held on 10th February 2010 at the Bandra Kurla Complex and will be broadcast exclusively on Sony.

The Mirchi awards are judged by a jury that stands out for its personal achievements, passion for music and its unerring judgment about the finer points of music. This year’s Radio Mirchi Music Award Winners will be decided by a panel of 16 distinguished Jury Members. The Jury is chaired by India's renowned poet, lyricist and scriptwriter, Padma Bhushan Javed Akhtar. Other illustrious members of the Jury are:

India’s biggest Music Awards will witness the Best of Music talent getting crowned after going through tough tests and parameters designed by these doyens of the Indian film music industry.

Speaking about the Radio Mirchi Music Awards and selection pattern, Javed Akhtar, Jury Chairman, Mirchi Music Awards said, "Last year when Radio Mirchi approached me to be a part of the jury, I wondered how the practitioner’s could judge the process. But the concept of the only award to honor excellence in Hindi film music, that gives credibility to Indian music fraternity, made perfect sense. It is time we give due recognition to this industry to our singers, composers, lyricists and all deserving maestros of the film music industry. The Jury members are here to select the best of the music talents for 2009. Jury members do not influence each other’s decisions and the final results are in fact a consensus decision. This being the second year, there is more confidence amongst the fraternity."

Speaking on the announcement, ENIL CEO Prashant Panday, said, "With the second edition, Radio Mirchi Music Awards has transcended to being more than just an event; it is a chronicle of the Indian Music industry. The integrity and dedication behind Mirchi Music Awards is what makes it unique. The Awards salute the hard work, passion and the immense creative talent of our music industry. This year we have added a non film category as well. Over a period of time we see the Mirchi Music Awards including other genres of music as well. For us at Mirchi this is our way of saying Music Ko Mirchi Ka Salaam.

While the awards will felicitate musicians across various categories, for the popular awards there is of course the voice and opinion of Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM listeners who have backed the show with unrelenting enthusiasm. Listeners will get a chance to vote for their favourite artists and songs of the year 2009, and can win a chance of attending the Awards Night Function.
