As the Indian Hockey team gears up for the Hockey World Cup being held in New Delhi this year, RED FM – the station for expression is spearheading a campaign to promote the spirit of the game amongst the people of the city. Though the game may not be as popular as cricket, Red FM believes that hockey fans may be less in numbers but they make up for it with their unbounded enthusiasm.
Red FM has undertaken the initiative to generate interest among the people of the city and inspire them to support the country’s national game. Red FM is working towards encouraging people to fill up the stadium during all the matches and support the Indian team in true sportsman spirit.
Red FM OB RJ’s will be touring around key touch points in Delhi, with a huge 8 feet hockey stick, interacting with people and asking them to sign the hockey stick as a mark of their pledge. This hockey stick would be presented to the Indian hockey Team as a token of the best wishes of the city. Thousands of listeners and people of the city have already made a pledge. As a part of this support initiative, Red FM is also giving away hockey sticks to listeners on-air.
Speaking on the occasion, Anuj Singh, National Marketing Head & Station Head (Mumbai) said, "Red FM, the “station for expression” has always lent support to important events in the country. 2010 is a very important year for sports in India and hosting the Hockey World Cup is a matter of pride for Indians, considering that hockey is the national game of the country. This tournament will continue to get our support and our RJ’s will ensure that the same spirit is transferred to all sporting enthusiasts."
