The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), India’s premier arts and culture institution in association with UTV World Movies, collaborates with Gauthier Herrmann to present the Arties Festival, which brings to Mumbai the best Chamber Music played by the finest young musicians. The Arties Festival begins on March 26th & 27th, 2010 at the Experimental Theatre at 7.00pm and aims to appeal soothe and challenge the Mumbai audience.
Inaugurated in March 2008, the Arties Festival takes place every March and November, as a result of a collaboration between the NCPA and Gauthier Herrmann to bring to Mumbai the finest Chamber Music played by the finest young musicians, who are handpicked for the festival. The March 2010 edition will showcase a diverse repertoire and present pieces that are relatively unknown in their brilliance the masterpieces of Polenc, Dvorak, Shotakovich and Bruch.
The Arties Festival is a group of talented young musicians based in France who travel the world spreading the glories of the chamber music repertoire far and wide and presenting performances in a new, stimulating way. The present line-up comprises of Hugues Borsarello (violin), Nicolas Bone (viola), Olivier Patey (clarinet), Emmanuel Christien (piano), Gauthier Herrmann (cello) who would enthral the Mumbai audiences.
UTV World Movies' association with NCPA to conduct Arties festival is a step forward to bring in world culture closer to the Indian audience. UTV World Movies has been achieving this by associating with various facets of 'global culture'- music, food, entertainment and finally cinema. Partnership with the ‘Arties Fest’ is an extension of this belief, keeping in mind NCPA’s history of promoting various cultures and performers from across the world.
