'Zindagi Live' and 'NREGA Ka Nark' win top honours at the NT Awards 2010

IBN7, India’s Channel of Impact once again triumphed in the third edition of News Television Awards with its flagship talk show Zindagi LIVE being adjudged the Best News Talk Show (Hindi) of the year. The award for the Best Investigative News Report (Hindi) was also bagged by the channel for its special coverage ‘NREGA Ka Nark’ that exposed the misuse of money in the name of NREGA. The awards were conferred at a glittering ceremony attended by senior professionals from the media & entertainment industry and other dignitaries.

The programming at IBN7 has been inclusive, impactful and relevant addressing real issues impacting the lives of people. The channel continues to uphold the tradition of being India’s Channel of Impact by taking an in-depth look at key issues prevalent in our society which impacts the lives of the common man.

The channel was recognised for its exceptional programming in the following award categories:

* Best News Talk Show of the Year (Hindi) - Zindagi LIVE (Victims of 1984 Riots): Winning the award for the second year in a row, this special episode of Zindagi LIVE, relived the trauma faced by the families who lost their loved ones in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Zindagi LIVE spoke to some of these families who are still struggling for justice even after twenty five years.

* Best Investigative News Report of the Year (Hindi) – 'NREGA Ka Nark': National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (or NREGA) saw huge government investments; IBN7’s Reporter Mausami Singh carried out an investigation to reveal how the government of Madhya Pradesh was misappropriating funds to fill the pockets of its own people in the name of NREGA.

NT Awards are amongst the most prestigious awards in the Indian Television space that are presented to channel programmers, anchors, presenters, technicians, producers, editors, reporters and management for excellent work under various heads like Programming Awards, Personality Awards, Promo Awards, and Special Awards. A distinguished panel of jurors from within and outside the broadcast journalism space shortlists all the entries and then decides the nominees and the winners.
