STAR India CEO Uday Shankar honored with IFFLA's Industry Vanguard Award

Uday Shankar, CEO, STAR India Pvt. Ltd. received the 2010 Industry Leadership Award at the prestigious 8th Annual Indian Film Festival Los Angeles (IFFLA) for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Media & Entertainment industry.

As CEO of STAR India, Shankar has led the company's transformation from a leading broadcaster to an integrated media company with a significant presence in regional broadcasting, film production, cable, DTH and home shopping. He also manages STAR's international businesses. Prior to joining STAR India, Shankar served as CEO of STAR joint venture MCCS for over three years.

The recipients of the IFFLA Industry Awards and Industry Trailblazer Award were chosen by a Selection Committee headed by Arnold Peter, partner at Los Angeles-based Peter Rubin & Simon, a full service entertainment industry law firm with global clients in the United States and India. These awards were created in 2008 to recognize the achievements of entertainment industry executives who have had a substantial and personal impact on the creation and distribution of Indian-themed content globally and have additionally led the expansion of the entertainment and media industry in India.

He shares this honour with Sanford Panitch, the President of Fox International Productions.
