Shahbuddin Rathod introduces his characters and gives us a glimpse of the state of Ahmedabad. A marriage procession takes place where women sing some Gujarati folk songs. Here jumps in a mad man, Jeetu, who scares them by imitating them. Kanta Ba sees this and a lady takes Jeetu away and tells him that she has seen a girl for him. He is happy and goes away with her. Kanta Ba goes to her house and is much tensed. Meanwhile, Jayantilal Parikh enters the celebration while Kanta Ba talks about Jeetu.
Jayantilal tells her that Jeetu had some major expectations from marriage. Kanta Ba insists that he should get Vinaychand married and very categorically tells him that if they don't find a girl for him in the next 15 days she will go on a hunger strike. Jayantilal is shocked. On the other hand, Vinaychand is praying to God to listen to his prayers. Jayantilal spots Jeevla in the Pol and shares with him his concern about Kanta Ba's promise of not eating and tells him to spread the word around. On the other side, Batuklal master is busy trying to teach his son, Chinnu while his wife, Bhavna is going on arguing with him on the same. Master is shocked to hear the proposal from Kanta Ba as Jeevla tells him about it.
In the Pol, Labhu Merai has a shop in the central market and Jeevla rushes to tell him about Kanta Ba too. Meanwhile, Bapu is restlessly waiting for Jeevla along with Ranjan Ba . Moreover, Vinaychand is also coming back from the temple and on his way back home he distributes prasad to the people on the street. As he reaches home and meets his mother, he comes to know about her vow of not eating and drinking unless his friends find him a girl to get married to in the next 15 days. Poor Vinaychand is worried about his mother.
