The mysterious death of Tutankhamun, the young king of ancient Egypt, has for centuries enticed many criminal detectives. Discovery Channel plans to bring to light the truth behind Tut's death through its two-hour special 'The Assassination of King Tut' which will be aired on March 16 at 7.00 pm.
Over 3,000 years ago, the world's most famous pharaoh died at the young age of 18. Hastily mummified, Tutankhamun lay in an unfinished tomb until its discovery in 1922. For decades Egyptologists suspected murder most foul. Now, besides, examining the potential causes of Tut's demise (including accident, natural causes, suicide and murder), the programme will reveals the true face behind the golden mask showing the most forensically correct interpretation of what Tut's face would have looked like.
The programme is narrated by Oscar-nominated actor John Hurt and produced by the award-winning Atlantic Productions. The executive producer is the Emmy Award-winning Anthony Geffen. The team of detectives that set out on the trail include detectives Gregory Cooper (former FBI agent, chief of police and civil defense director of Provo, Utah) and Mike King (former director of the Utah criminal Tracking and Analysis Project at the Attorney General's office, Salt Lake City).
