In line with its tradition to pay tribute to the real heroes of India, Zee News honoured select security personnel for their exemplary courage and sacrifices at The Ananya Samman Award ceremony held at The Oberoi Hotel, Delhi on December 10, 2010.

Some of the soldiers who were honoured were Late IPS officer K.C. Surendrababu, Assistant Sub Inspector Lucas Tete, Bihar Military Police, Major Laishram Jyotin Singh, Onkar Nath Constable/GD -ITBP, Anil Kumar T Constable/GD -ITBP, Late Havaldar Rajesh Kumar, Late CT/GD Vaghela Baldev Singh, Late IPS Ravikant Singh, Martyr Nautinder Singh, Asst. Commandant Kanhaiya Singh, SI /GD Ashok Kumar, CT /GD Pawan Kumar, HC /GD Darshan Singh, Martyr Constable C.S. Sharma, Martyr Head Constable Chote Lal Gupta, Constable Mohammad Salim Khan, Sub Inspector Dharam Singh, Petty Officer Sajjan Singh, Assistant Commandant K.C.Yadav, Constable Ashim Manta.

E N Rammohan, Former Director General, BSF was given the Lifetime Achievement Samman.

Besides, sportspersons who earned India laurels at the Asiad and Commonwealth Games were also honoured for their Ananya Yogdan.

Speaking on the occasion, Barun Das, CEO, Zee News Ltd said, "The security personnel of our country are immaculate examples of those who speak through their heroic conduct, fidelity to duty and unparallel devotion to the motherland… We are indeed honoured to honour them. "

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram was the Chief Guest at the ceremony, Among the other prominent politicians who attended were Union Health and family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Election Commissioner S. Y. Quereshi, L K Advani, Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha K Rehman Khan, Leader of Opposition, Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Ramesh Pokhriyal and other representatives of the Union Council of Ministers. Delhi Police Commissioner and senior officials from the CRPF and BSF were also present on the occasion.

The award ceremony was hosted by well-known Zee News anchor Mimansa Malik and actor Nasir Abdullah.
