CNBC Awaaz, India's No.1 business channel along with Arms (a division of Arcil) launched Responsibility aur Rupaiya - The Next Level in Aug'10, an initiative that endeavors to cater to 8th and 9th graders from across the country, to educate them about the various forms of financial situations they may face in their lives and the means to take sound financial decisions. CNBC Awaaz is providing to be a platform for these students to display their knowledge, understanding and skills on financial matters. The initiative had received an overwhelming response in its first season last year.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Sanjay Pugalia, Editor-in-chief, CNBC Awaaz said, "It is important that children, the future of tomorrow understand the nuances of financial planning. We at CNBC Awaaz believe it is imperative and essential to mould our children and make them more responsible towards understanding the value of money. With an aim to take this initiative to students across the country and due to the tremendous response garnered by the first season, we have launched the second season, 'Responsibility Aur Rupaiya - The Next Level'.
CNBC Awaaz has launched the second season of Responsibility aur Rupaiya - The Next Level through a series of four ascending levels of intelligence. The first level, an online test, witnessed participation of 8th & 9th graders from scores of schools across the country. Top 10 students from each of the four zones of the country qualified through the online test to enter the next level, the Quiz. In the quiz round, the 40 qualified students were required to make a team of two by getting one partner from their respective school to participate in the quiz round. The ten teams in each zone were then divided into two groups of five teams each. One quiz session with each of these groups resulted into two winning teams from each zone graduating to Level 3 - the Debate round.
The winners of the quiz round from the North Zone include Ashrit Vaidya & Rhea Kumar and Saloni Jain & Prastut Kumar of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, New Delhi. The winners of the South Zone were Rounak Banik & Nitin Ram and Pranav Vaidyanath & Gopi Krishna of DAV Sr. Secondary Boys School, Chennai. The West Zone winners were Aditya Kadmawala & Rahul R. Sarraf of Maharaj Agrasen Vidyalaya, Ahmedabad and Karnaw Shah & Paridhi Ajmera of D .Y. Patil International School, Mumbai. The winners of the East Zone include Shourya Dasgupta & Aishik Dutta of St. Xavier's Collegiate Boy School, Kolkata and Harsh Parasramka & Anmol Singh Narula of St. James School, Kolkata.
Each of these winning teams from each zone now made a team of four by adding two more students in their team and battled it out with each other in the level 3, with one winning team advancing to the final level of this season. All these four member teams were invited to Mumbai for the level 3, Case Study solving' competition, judged by eminent industry figures comprising of Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, VP, Arcil (A Premier Asset Restructuring Co.); Mr. Gaurav Mashruwala, renowned Personal Finance Expert and Mr. A. C. Varma, Ex. MD, State Bank of Patiala. The teams had to present solutions / answers to the questions asked at the end of the case by either using a power-point presentation or a skit or a poem or a combination of these.
Each level of the competition is featured on CNBC Awaaz in the form of one or more half hour telecasts. The students not only get a platform to display their abilities but will also get an opportunity to represent their school in the second season of this pioneering initiative and also win exciting prizes along with being featured on 'CNBC Awaaz'.
