While the whole Indian sub continent is resonating with “India! India!” we at Nine are calling it a finale before the final – such is the enthusiasm for the Indo-Pak Cricket Semi Final! As soon as the Indian team showed the Aussies the way to the airport, Siliguri and Gangtok has been gearing up to the much awaited Semi- Final between India and Pakistan. Nine FM has been sharing this excitement with its listeners by being a part of the support drive to the Indian Team.
Nine FM and Bikers Club of Siliguri and Gangtok took to the roads all dressed in blue, garnering support for our beloved Indian team. The bikers took a tour of the city along with the Nine OB Presenters who interacted with the crowd, taking wishes from them for Team India. Believers performed ‘havan’ as an invocation to the Gods to be with the team. The phone lines in the studios of Nine FM were clogged with calls as eager fans queued up to convey their messages to the Men in Blue.
Nine FM has been giving regular updates of all the matches on a half hourly basis and contests based on cricket are being aired. Nine FM is also associated with a daily newspaper for a Special Predict and Win Contest, wherein the readers/listeners have to send their answers through e-mails and fax.
Mr. Bobby Gupta, Chief Executive, Nine FM remarked, “ We are supporting the Indian Team through various events, but with this we also are supporting the team spirit and sportsmanship which the people of both Sikkim and Siliguri have come forward and displayed. The celebration is going to be even greater if India brings home the World Cup."
