Sudirman Cup is the world mixed team badminton championship which takes place every two years. There are five matches in every round: men and women's singles, men and women's doubles and mixed doubles. Sudirman Cup is the only international competition that does not stage a qualification round and it has no cash prize, it is played for the pride of one's nation. The competing teams are divided into 7 groups based on their performances. Top players like Lee Chong Wei, Taufik Hidayat, and Lin Dan will participate in the Double Star 2011 BWF Sudirman Cup.

After consecutive three losses in the Malaysian Open, The All England Badminton Championships and The Indian Open , Saina Nehwal, the Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist would be looking forward to avenge her defeat to Japan's Ai Goto in the Indian Open in two games in the second week of March.
