94.3 Radio One celebrated it's billing as India's only 'music station', by putting together a live concert with Kunal Ganjawalla, for the birth-anniversary week of R D Burman, paying tribute to his all time melodies. Kunal Ganjawalla, known for his musical flair and serenading voice, went unplugged during the week long celebration on Radio One- "One Delhi One Music" that took place from 27th June, 2011 to 30th June, 2011. The Delhi music lovers and ardent fans of R D Burman music took this opportunity to relive his glorious musical moments.
94.3 Radio One initiated "One India One Music" as a musical movement to bring multi-genre music to one common platform. Since its launch, "One Delhi One Music" has brought everything ranging from suave melodies to upbeat Punjabi music and now brings alive the golden era of music with the "Tribute to R D Burman" compositions. Present at the event, Mr. Rajesh Ranjan, Station Director, 94.3 Radio One Delhi said, "We are delighted and feel privileged to be paying tribute to the legend of R D Burman in our own little way. The 'One Delhi One Music' initiative - with two successful musical concerts featuring Mohit Chauhan and Gurdas Maan to its credit now - couldn't have provided us with a better platform to showcase the sheer love for music that we at Radio One share and veneration that we feel for the music legend. It's an absolute treat for our senses that we are witnessing today one of today's stars - Mr Kunal Ganjawala, paying tribute to a legend of the yesteryears."
Kunal Ganjawala shared with us that he had been a great follower of R D Burman's music and said, "R.D. Burman's style of music has left an indelible impression on the minds and struck chords with millions of fans world over. I happen to be one of them and today feel proud and honoured for getting an opportunity to express my gratitude for him. I have grown up listening to his music and feel inspired every time I hear his compositions. I am thankful to 94.3 Radio One for putting together this platform to salute him."
One Delhi One Music - On ground initiative
With the huge success of "Radio One - One Delhi One Music" on air, the music station had taken the property on ground in the month of Jan 2011. Radio One is now furthering the baton of music by making this a regular event for the music lovers of the city who do not get to witness good live musical performances toooften. This has come as a result of the continuous efforts and endeavors by the music station to promote different forms of music and musicians. These on ground activity/concert would also include events of mass reach and promotion like Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy, Ghulam ali etc.
