The vociferous atmosphere reached its crescendo when the Indian rockstar made a grand entry accompanied by a fiery bhangra troupe. He belted out some of his famed musical numbers. The audience regaled to the boisterous and unrestrained tune of ‘Jugni’, ‘Mauja he mauja’, ‘Sawan mein lag gayi aag’ and his latest being ‘Subah hone na de’ from the much awaited movie ‘Desi Boyz’.
Speaking on ‘One Delhi One Music’, Mika said, “I thank Radio One for its unique initiative. I am humbled to see the love and support which the audience of the Capital has showered upon me. I hope I am able to spread the joy of music this festive season. This is a great platform to promote individual artists and my best wishes are with Radio One.”
Radio One had dedicated the evening musical extravaganza to noted ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh, whose sudden and sad demise has created a bereft vacuum in the heart of all music lovers. Mika hummed a somber ode in the noble memory of the master who ushered in a new revolution in the world of ghazals, gurbani, khafi and bhajan.
The concert which attracted a buzzing crowd whose electrifying mood was fired by the vibrant energetic and power house performance of Shaan e Punjab Mika Singh.
Radio One has now furthered the baton of music by making this a monthly event for the music lovers of the city. This has come as a result of the continuous efforts and endeavors by the radio channel to promote different forms of music genres. Radio One’s ‘One Delhi One Music has achieved great acclaim and appreciation for its earlier concerts by Mohit Chauhan, Gurdaas Mann, Kunal Ganjawala and the latest one being the Wadali Brothers, who left the audience fixated to their suave melodies. After the success of the previous ‘One Delhi One Music’ concerts, Radio One added another feather in its cap by presenting the robust and boisterous beat of Punjabi bhangra with Mika live in concert.
