Zee Network hits a sixer with Afro Asia Cup telecast

Zee Network’s first foray into LIVE cricket telecast has been a roaring success according to the latest figures from TAM Media.

Zee TV’s and Zee Sports’ telecast of the first Standard Chartered Afro Asia Cup ODI between Asia and Africa, registered a high viewership of 3.07 in the 15 –34 Male SEC ABC, HSM audience on August 17, 2005. During this period it also recorded a reach of 33%. In addition it also scored an avg TVR of 2.39 on an All India basis, with a reach of 26.8%. Even in the CS 4+ category, an average TVR of 1.95 was recorded with 27.7% reach in Hindi speaking markets.

The second ODI telecast on August 20, again saw a high avg TVR of 3.03 with a reach of 23.7% in the HSM, and 2.34 on an All India basis in the M 15-34 ABC TG, while in the CS4+ audience the average recorded TVR was 2.1 and 1.59 in Hindi speaking markets and All India markets, respectively

With an average reach of 7.5 % with a high of 11%, and a channel share of almost 70% in the sports genre on match playing days based on avg ratings, Zee Sports attains the distinction of being the top sports channel. Mumbai for example recorded an avg reach of 10.7 % in CS4+ whereas Kolkatta delivered 18.05%, for the new channel.
