Superstardom - as heavy duty as the name sounds, the effects of the same are as powerful, life-changing and sometimes even destructive! In a country like ours Bollywood is practically a second religion and people are so star-struck as to being absolutely frenzy about their favourite stars. Stardom brings along with it a lot of fame and wealth and at times a lot of brickbats too.

Fans not only look up to celebrities but even try looking like them. Fans want to know everything about them. But that’s not all there is to stardom! Stars have to pay a price for their name and fame. They’re required to look their best even when they are in their worst mental-state. Every move of theirs is elaborately observed by the paparazzi and the resulting effect is no privacy! But then again, one cannot deny the glamorous side to stardom! All the name, fame and wealth can take a celeb to cloud 9 however it also has its destructive side that can absolutely desolate a person.

While these stars enjoy a godly status and privileges, there is also a strong possibility of them being dethroned and stripped off their superpowers. While many stars can handle it, many others can’t! On one hand we have Big B, the superstar of the millennium, who has gloriously ruled for decades with utmost dignity and grace and the King of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan, who lives life king-size, despite hits and flops with sheer royalty, only like a King truly would! On the other hand we have stars who have failed to live up to their stardom and succumbed to the darker side of fame. What is stardom then? Is it good or bad? Is stardom a privilege or does it have a heavy price for celebs to pay?

Here’s what our popular stars have to say about it-

Vidya Balan, Actor: “I enjoy that people want to know about me. This is what I’ve worked for. It’s part and parcel of stardom and I like it.”

Kajol, Actor: “When you’re a star, you’re expected to be inhuman – one who doesn’t get angry, doesn’t feel unhappiness, and doesn’t feel insulted or worried.”

Ajay Devgn, Actor: “The best part of being a star is you can get away with anything. And the worst part is, there are few things you absolutely can’t get away with.”

Ranveer Singh, Actor: “This stardom and extra bhaav is superficial. All that matters is the work you do.”

Priyanka Chopra, Actor: “Being a star is a life-altering change. You have to get used to the constant attention from paparazzi. Even my family took some time to handle it.”
