The Star Network’s Kannada GEC Suvarna announces the 4th edition of Suvarna Film Awards 2012. The event will be held on May 12th and will be aired in the 1st week of Jun’2012.
Suvarna Film Award is considered the most prestigious film award among the Kannada film fraternity. It has 29 different categories; each award category pertains to excellence in different areas of film making. The awards are divided into 2 categories, Best category & Favorite category.
Over 103 Kannada films were released in 2011. Experts and Suvarna editorial team will be viewing and analyzing the 150 nominations which are in fray for the awards to select the winners. The favorite category nominees are selected through voting from people all over Karnataka.
Journey of Suvarna Film Awards started in the year of 2008, this was initiated to appreciate & reward the Kannada film industry and has completed 3 successful consecutive years. This is the most awaited event every year, Suvarna Film awards exhibits a glint of glamour with the most renowned Kannada film stars stepping over the red carpet to enhance the sparkle and to sizzle the stage with their dazzling performances.
Channel Business head Anup Chandrashekharan Says, “Suvarna Film Awards have been designed and created to identify, recognize and encourage the talent from Kannada film industry. We are also taking votes from ordinary people by this the channel is providing an opportunity to every Kannadiga to cast their vote for the movies & individuals they liked in the year 2011”
In order to collect the viewer’s votes from across the prominent cities of the State, a special Film Fans Express van has gone on a tour. The van will collect the viewer’s votes from Bangalore, Mysore, Hassan, Hubli- Dharwad, Belgaum, Hospet, Gadag and Davangere.
The viewer’s can also cast their vote through SMS and online website.
Suvarna stands for fresh and differentiated programming. A family entertainment channel that has a lineup of popular programs including Neena Naana, Kitchen Kiladigalu, Preethiyinda, Bombat Bhojana, Krishna Rukmini, Anna thangi, Nagapanchami, Amruthavarshini, Chukki and Pancharangi Pom Pom.
