ACV Channel - Onam 2012 Programme Highlights

Onam, the Traditional harvest festival of Kerala is celebrated with fervor across the state .The festival falls in the Malayalam month of Chingam, spanning across the months of August and September.

With a variety of programmes, ACV ushers Onam with a ten-day fare, Onam Fiesta, starting from Aug 22nd to Aug 31st.

The Theme this Onam on ACV is Chingam Kootayamayude Pookkaalam, which means in Malayalam, that the Malayalam month of Chingam is a season to enjoy with Family & Friends. The Brand ambassador is poular Malayalam Film maker, Shaji Kailas & his wife, Chithra aka Annie & family.

Blockbuster films, scripted shows, Music programs, Tête-à-tête with Celebrities, Cookery specials and the special Major Onam event are some of the major programmes on the channel.

The highlight of the ten-day fare is the mega Onam event, titled Avanithinkkal in association with the Tourism department of the Government of Kerala , on Aug 30th, 6.30 PM at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. The entertainment will be a medley of Music, Dance & Humour; Renowned musicians Anuradha Sreeram, Sreenivas, Najeem Arshad, Prakash Babu, Cochin Azad, Lakshmi Jayan, Ashitha; Dance by Abbas School of dance & Comedy act by Team VIP. The event will be aired Live on ACV.

Ezuthinte Vazhiyil , a program wherein the Writer /Filmmaker discusses how a story/ script of a movie was developed , the program from Aug 22nd to Aug 31st is at 6.00 PM , features renowned makers such as Sreekumaran Thampi, Kamal, Jayaraj,Major Ravi,Krishna Poojapura, Babu Janrdanan,Ranjan Pramod, M Padmakumar,Deedi Damodaran, P Balachandran.

Nadan Pattukkal features some of the most popular folk songs during Onam in a three-part series from Aug 22nd to Aug 24th at 7.00 PM.

Njan Njanakkunna Divasam, popular politicians from Kerala elaborate on the festival season, those who participate include K M Mani, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Vidhyadharan master, P J Joseph, Peruvanam Kuttan Marar at 7.00 PM, from Aug 26th to Aug 31st.

Kudumbasametham, a chat session with renowned public figures and their families in a discussion about Onam and what it means to them featuring Shashi Tharoor,K V Thomas, Air Marshall S P Singh, Hibi Eden,Anoop Jacob, V S Sivakumar, K P Muralidharan , from Aug 24th to Aug 31st at 7.30 PM.

Ona Sallapam , a chat show featuring celebrities from Mollywood such as Benny Ignatius, Arun, Bijukuttan,Anoop Menon, Unni Mukundan,Vijayarghavan,Dileep ,Meghanand , Aug 22nd to Aug 31st at 8.00 PM.

Ruchibhedham, a cookery show will feature the choicest dishes made during the Onam season. Celebrity artistes such as Beena Antony, Praveena, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, KPAC Lalitha, Mithra Kurian, Priyanka, Urmila Unni, Kalpana & Sona Nair will don the cook's apron for the show to be aired from Aug 22nd to Aug 31st at 5.00 PM.

Panchaleham, a documentary-series on some of the delicious and well-known dishes specific to a particular region in Kerala will be aired from Aug 27th to 31st at 12.00 PM. The origin, preparation & popularity of culinary items such as Ambalapuzha Paalpayasam, Marayoor Sharkkara, Thendu, Ottayappam and Kalathappam will be presented in this 5-episode show.

A travelogue across the coastal town of Varkala featuring the popular must-see locations in and around Varkala, culminates with a special cookery show at a deluxe 5 Star hotel, the show titled Thanathu Ruchikalumayi is on Aug 29th at 5.00 PM

Leading celebrities Ranjini Haridas, Saranya Mohan, Kadhal Sandhya, Radhika, Kaviyur Ponnamma share their thoughts about Onam at 1.30 PM, Aug 27th to Aug 31st.
