The 15th Ujala-Asianet Film Awards 2013 were distributed at a glittering function held recently at Port Trust Stadium, Willington Island Cochin. The show was witnessed by 25,000 strong crowds. Several prominent persons from the film industry and socio-cultural spheres were present on the occasion.

Universal Star Kamala Hassan was felicitated by mega star Mammootty and Asianet Managing Director K.Madahan for his outstanding contributions to Indian Film Industry. The event was blessed with the presence of a cross section of stars from South Indian film industry. Colourful programmes performed by leading Malayalam artistes along with a mix of stars from Tollywood & Bollywood etc. added to its Charm. Personalities like Priyadarshan, Bhumika Chawla, Meena, Nedumudi Venu,Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prathap Pothan, Suman, Honey Rose, Meera Nandan, Vineeth, Jagadhesh, Sukumari, KPAC Lalitha, Lalu Alex, Mythili, Shamna Khasim, Riyaz Khan, Babu Antony, Edavela Babu, Kadhal Sandhya, Ajmal, Asha Sarath, Sheela, Maniyan Pillai Raju,Suresh Krishna, Nanu, Archana Kavi, Hemand, Munna, Mallika, director Sibi Malayil, director Sathyan Anthikadu, director Kamal, AMMA celebrity cricket league players were present at the function. Director Priyadarsan was felicitated by Asianet managing director K. Madhavan, for his contributions to Indian Cinema.

‘Usthad Hotel’ won the award for the best film, which was received by its producer Listen Stephen & director Anwar Rasheed. Ranjith won the award for the best director for the movie ‘ Spirit. ’, Mohanlal won the best actor award for his role in ‘Spirit & Run Baby Run’ and Kavya Madhavan for the best female actress for the film ‘ Bavoottiyude Namathil.’. The awards for the Most Popular Actors were presented to Prithvi Raj and Mamta Mohandas respectively for their outstanding contribution in various films. Movie “Spirit” won the award for the Most Popular film.

Others who won awards include Vijay Yesudas (best male singer), K.S.Chithra (best female singer), Swetha Menon (best character artiste-female), Biju Menon (best character artiste-male), Babu Raj (best actor in a comic role) and Nivin Poli-Isha Thalwar (best star couple). Rafeeq Ahammed (lyricist ), Gopi Sundar (music director), Dhananjay(child artiste), Anjali Menon ( Script Writer ), Jomon T. John (cameraman ), debut artiste Gauthami Nair , Lena ( best supporting actress) , Shankar Ramakrishnan & Indrajith ( best supporting actor ) , Ramya Nambeesan ( popular singer), Jaqueline Fernandez ( most stylish bollywood actress ) , Vineeth Sreenivasan ( Multi faceted talent) , Prakash raj ( Asianet Golden Star award )and Manoj K.Jayan , Kunjacko Boban &Anoop Chandran (Special Jury awards) .

Popular star Jayaram was honored for his 25 years long outanding career in the film industry.

Other cine Stars such as Shobhana, Roma, Kaniha, Isha Talwar Mariyam Zachriya, Sarayu, comedy artistes from TV/ Film industry, Playback Singers like Shaan, Andrea Jermaid (bollywood) and Star Singer winners entertained the audience with scintillating song numbers.
