The Music Director Fulfills His Long-Standing Dream of Working with Bhanvari Devi on the Upcoming Episode Which Airs This Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 8pm Only On MTV

Ram Sampath enjoys a huge fan following but if there is one person that he is an ardent fan of then it is none other than the Rajasthani folk singer, Bhanvari Devi! She has sung the song ‘Tan Kattey' for him along with rapper Hard Kaur in one of the most interesting collaborations to ever come up on Coke Studio@MTV! Ram had seen Bhanvari Devi perform in Rajasthan for the first time and since then he was looking for the perfect platform to collaborate with her. When he was approached for Coke Studio@MTV Season 3 he knew this was his calling.

Bhanwari Devi is a folk singer from Rajasthan. With ‘ghoongat' on her head and a mike in her hand, Bhanwari devi, a woman singer in an almost male dominated arena is a powerful performer of Kabir poetry. Also not used to recording in a studio, Coke Studio@MTV was a completely new experience for her. She usually performs with her son Kishan Kumar who plays the harmonium and is performing with her on Coke Studio@MTV season 3. Even while recording ‘Tan Kattey', Kishan was playing the harmonium and he would give her the cue to start.

For this song, Ram also gave Hard Kaur complete freedom to come up with the rap part herself. The rap, penned by Hard Kaur, depicts the things she has experienced in life. For her, this was the perfect song to let out all the angst she's been feeling!

The song ‘Tan Kattey' is a crazy mix-up of two completely different worlds – Bhanvari Devi's traditional powerhouse Rajasthani vocals, fuses with Hard Kaur's scorching rap on her personal journey & some genuine hip-hop – the end product is a burst of energy, unlike anything you've heard before. Two outlaws from two different universes come together in this Ram Sampath song to celebrate freedom, rebellion & belonging.
