There was this tinge of exhaustion in the market after the hectic wooing that marked Diwali. There were hardly any new offers, and most were still offering the Diwali bargains.

Household goods were the largest category. Racold Altro was offering a Braun hand blender worth Rs 1,195 free with a Racold Altro Water heater. The offer was valid only in Delhi, Rajasthan, UP and Punjab. Samsung was offering two attractive Borosil dishes with the Samsung Bio-Ceramic microwave oven - an offer valid in Delhi till stocks last. Godrej was offering a trigger alarm free with its Godrej treasure test, in Calcutta. LG was offering a wrist watch to consumers who bought LG refrigerators in Calcutta. Bajaj, in its La Opala offer, was giving a Opala pudding set worth Rs 365 free along with any Bajaj oven-toaster-griller. The offer was valid in Calcutta only.

Dabur Gulabari was offering a pack of glycerine free to those buying Dabur Gulabari premium rose water. StarLite was offering up to Rs 1,500 off on a new mattress in exchange for an old one - again in Calcutta. Those buying a Voltas window or split air conditioner could stay for free for three days and two nights at the Taj. The offer is valid in north India till November 30, 2000.

Electronics. There was the Thomson Shubh Utsav offer, with up to Rs 3,000 off on all the colour TVs of Thomson, an offer valid till stocks last. Sansui was offering up to Rs 5,000 off on buying the Sansui colour TV - an offer valid in Delhi and surrounding areas.

Automobiles. Matiz, stung with the competition in the small car market, was offering a free music system and an anti-theft system on select models of the Matiz car in Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad. The offer would be valid till October 31. Yamaha has innovated and was offering Rs 3,000 worth of fuel with the Yamaha YBX or the Yamaha YD125. The offer, valid in Chennai and Pondicherry, could be converted into a Rs 3,000 discount offer.

Computers. MTNL's offer of a music CD on registering for 500 hours or a PSTN or a one-year unlimited account would close on October 31. If you bought a Samsung computer and a hard disk, you got the Mantra Online "Life Time" Internet offer, gift vouchers worth Rs 5,000 from NIIT, free games and so on.

Peter England was offering a trendy travel bag worth Rs 350 with two Peter England shirts in Ahmedabad. Bombay Dyeing was giving away a Featherlite shirt for just Rs 51 on buying any Vivaldi shirt or trouser free - in Mumbai.
