JWT, Bangalore & 1pointsize get finalist nominations at London awards

While JWT, Bangalore has been nominated for its Levi's campaign, 1pointsize has earned the nomination for the apparel brand Perri Alley

JWT, Bangalore and Levi's have struck a winning combination yet again. After the agency's work for the apparel brand got featured in this year's Clio, D&AD and New York Festivals and not to forget our own ABBY, it's the turn of London International Advertising & Design Awards (LIAA) to laud the campaigns.

Says Patricia Censoprano, vice president, LIAA: "It gives me great pleasure to inform you that you (JWT, Bangalore) have been selected by our international panel of judges as a Finalist in the 2004 London International Advertising and Design Awards. The Awards are one of the most sought after and prestigious awards for creative excellence in advertising and design. They also remain one of the most demanding and rigorously judged in the industry."

JWT Bangalore has achieved Finalist status in the print category for 'Levi's 150 Years' as well as in the outdoor category for 'Levi's Low Rise.'

"Our first year with Levi's also happened to be the company's 150th year, so there was a lot of learning to be done. I am proud to say that our work has not only proved effective in the extremely competitive market but has also wowed award juries, both nationally and internationally," says Dhunji S. Wadia, senior vice president and general manager, JWT Bangalore.

Commenting on the work, Mukund Sharma, creative director at JWT Bangalore says, "The Levi's 150 years campaign is strong on copy. It has defied the trend of visual-led ads and yet managed to rake in awards. Copy ain't dead."

The winners will be announced at the 19th Annual Awards Ceremony in London on Monday, November 8. The awards will be presented at Sketch, the hottest venue in London.

Along with JWT, Bangalore, Chennai-based creative shop 1pointsize has also secured a finalist nomination at the awards.

1pointsize earned the nomination in the print single (apparel) category. The ad titled ‘Spring Collection' was for the brand Perri Alley.

Sharad Haksar, head of 1pointsize, is very pleased with the result. Haksar says, "The London Awards are known for its rigorous judging. There is no concept of a bronze or a silver metal here. There is just one winner. If you score 7.5/10, you're a finalist and if you score 9/10, you're a winner. It's as simple as that. Considering that there were close to 13,000 entries from over 70 countries, I think getting a finalist nomination was very creditable. But I will be glad if we can convert it into a winged statue."
