Prabhakar Mundkur likely to leave JWT

Prior to JWT, Mundkur was president of WPP Group agency Everest Integrated Communications

Seven months at JWT as business development director and Prabhakar Mundkur is already looking outside the agency. Mundkur, who was in Vietnam when contacted by agencyfaqs!, said that he was indeed considering a few options. ?I do have some offers in hand and I am exploring them.? Though there was a tone of finality in his statement, Mundkur added that ?technically, that is, at least till December 11?, the day he is back in Mumbai, he is with JWT.

Mundkur is currently traveling Asia and conducting advertising workshops.

Mundkur joined JWT in May this year. In fact, the slot of director, business development, which is an all-India responsibility, was created specifically for him. Mundkur is also a member of the executive committee of JWT India.

Prior to JWT, Mundkur served as president of WPP Group agency Everest Integrated Communications. At Everest, his mandate was, in his own words, ?to take the agency forward so that it can reclaim its position back among the Top 10.? Then, quite unexpectedly, Mundkur quit Everest in a year's time. He said he wanted to ?look at other opportunities, both within and outside advertising?.

Before Everest, Mundkur had spent four-and-a-half years at Euro RSCG India (as director and head of Mumbai). Prior to that, he was with J Walter Thompson (both in HTA and with the worldwide network) for 16 years.

The last position that he held in JWT India during his first stint there was that of senior vice-president and general manager, Bangalore. That was in 1992, the year when he moved to JWT East Africa. In 1998, and after a two-year stint at JWT China, he came back to India to join Euro RSCG as director. Among the brands he has worked on during his various stints in India and abroad are Unilever, Kellogg, Frito Lay, Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
