Anup Chitnis & Rensil D’Silva join O&M

The duo get back to mainstream advertising with O&M

Three months after quitting Mudra to dabble with film production, creative duo Anup Chitnis and Rensil D’Silva are back in mainstream advertising, joining O&M as senior creative directors. The Chitnis-D'Silva combination is counted among the more famous copy-art teams in recent advertising history.

Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and national creative director, O&M, confirmed the development to agencyfaqs!. “O&M was looking for the right creative directors to head a new group that we have created. Anup and Rensil just fit the bill.”

He also said the agency was reallocating accounts and recreating the groups. At this stage, however, the accounts that the duo would be handling had not been finalised.

Anup Chitnis admitted that he was “missing all the buzz in advertising and desired to come back to it”. “Though our profile is basically the same as it was in Mudra, working for O&M is an entirely different experience,” he said.

The duo had a seven-year stint with Mudra, before calling it a day. As for the fate of the production house they were briefly involved with, Chitnis made it clear that it was “simply a friend’s production unit” that he and D’Silva joined and added that the unit would find a way to carry on.

D’Silva has worked with JWT, Rediffusion DY&R, Saatchi & Saatchi and Mudra, while Chitnis has worked with Metaphor and Rediffusion. It was at Rediffusion that the two met and struck up a rapport which is a decade-old now. They two have worked on successful spots such as CHannel [v] Gheun Tak and McDonald’s, to name a few.
