Mudra Communications bags two major accounts in the City of Joy
Mudra Communications has bagged the creative duties of two Kolkata-based accounts.
The first business is Linen Club, the linen brand from Indian Rayon (an Aditya Birla Group company), endorsed by Rohit Bal. The other is Amar PC, a PC manufacturing company.
The news was confirmed by Hemant Misra, president, Mudra Communications, North and East.
Amar PC, a PC manufacturing company, is headed by entrepreneurs Tathagata Dutta and Santanu Ghosh. The one-year-old company (its first ad was released on January 21, 2004) has been on the expansion mode with plans for a countrywide launch in the forthcoming financial year.
Amar PC clocked a revenue of Rs 24 crore in 2003-2004. It claims to be selling 3,500 PCs every month with a 20 per cent share of the total PC market (branded and assembled) in eastern India. Mudra's Misra commented, “It was a combination of our national network and local resources, besides our strategy that impressed the client.”
Linen Club, on the other hand, is a major exporter of linen and has all this while concentrated on limited print and some outdoor advertising. Now, the company has some aggressive plans to make a greater splash in the domestic market, said Misra. The size of the business is estimated at Rs 4-5 crore.
The Mudra office in Kolkata works as an integrated group with Delhi and is headed by Kaustav Bhadra. “We put together a new team for the Kolkata operations just one year ago, and it is already showing results,” said Misra, who expects the regional operations to pick up greater momentum.
The other accounts that Mudra works with in the region are Orient Fans, Reliance Infocomm and GSM and TATA Bearings. The Kolkata office also serves as a communication base for Mudra’s business interests in Nepal.
Speaking on the industry trends in Kolkata, Misra commented that since most of the national players upped and left Kolkata, there has been some action from the local entrepreneurs. “I see a lot more business generating form the local companies that have national ambitions,” he said.
