For Capital’s one year-old Mumbai branch, this is the second big win after LG's CDMA account
Essar Spacetel, an Essar Group company that has applied for a unified telecom licence to provide GSM services in seven new circles, has awarded its creative duties to Capital Advertising's Mumbai office.
Apparently, more than five agencies had pitched for the business. But Capital, which opened its Mumbai office just a year ago, has won the account.
Confirming the development, Arun Batra, vice-president, sales & marketing, Essar Spacetel, says, “The size of the account is going to be substantial. However, I cannot give a figure at this stage as we still need to work out the budgets.”
In view of Essar Spacetel's ambitious plans – the media reports that the company is launching its GSM services in seven circles across Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Assam, North-East and Jammu & Kashmir – the marketing spends are going to be considerable.
The Essar Spacetel venture, some reports say, is Essar group's strategy for making independent telecom investments.
