Following a multi-agency pitch, rmg david, Delhi, has won the creative duties of Rajdeep Sardesai’s English news channel, ‘India Broadcast News’ (IBN). Around seven agencies participated in the pitch.
Neither the agency nor the client was willing to reveal the exact size of the business, but the industry estimates it to be substantial, especially since a new brand is being launched.
A senior executive at TV18 says, “We haven’t decided on the media agency as yet. Very soon, we will decide whether to call for a separate media agency pitch.”
Speculation is rife in the market that the Raghav Bahl-Rajdeep Sardesai-Sameer Manchanda venture – Broadcast News – plans to launch ‘IBN’ some time this Diwali season.
Dry runs for the channel have already begun.
Venugopal Chandrashekhar, vice-president and general manager, rmg david, Delhi, says, “The new channel will be competing with the likes of NDTV 24x7. Our job will be to bring forward the passion and newness of a young team in the promotional message.”
