Firoz Karmalawala moves from Leo Burnett to JWT

Karmalawala will now be director, audio-visual services, at JWT’s in-house films department

Firoz Karmalawala, films controller, Leo Burnett, Mumbai, has decided to end his six-year association with the agency. He will now head the in-house films department at JWT, Mumbai, as director, audio-visual services. He will report to Agnello Dias.

Commenting about the reason behind his decision and the challenges his new job poses, Karmalawala told agencyfaqs!, “Since it is one of the largest agencies in India, JWT offers a much bigger canvas to me in terms of creating good films. Also, JWT gives me an opportunity to work across a larger palette of brands.”

Karmalawala started his career in 1995, in FCB Ulka’s in-house films division, Nebula. After completing four years there, he moved to Leo Burnett, and has been in the films division ever since.

In his 10-year career in filmmaking, Karmalawala has made films for brands such as Heinz, Complan (milk powder and biscuits), Whisper, Tide, Zero (the zero-calorie sweetener), Rejoice shampoo and a film for The History Channel. He has also made films for NGOs such as CEHAT and Prerana.
