Abraham M Alapatt, client services director, O&M, Chennai, has decided to end his five-year association with the agency. He has put in his papers and will soon join Reliance Capital Asset Management Ltd as its associate vice-president – marketing communication.
Confirming this move to agencyfaqs!, Alapatt said, “I am leaving Ogilvy to explore other facets of marketing and communication beyond advertising. I had a fantastic innings at Ogilvy and firmly believe that it is the best agency in the country to work for!”
During his stay at O&M, Alapatt led the team that won and successfully implemented the COMBI plan for advertising and PR to eliminate lymphatic filariasis in Tamil Nadu. Head of the new business cell, Alapatt also helped the agency bag accounts such as Nippo Batteries, TTDC, Sify and ITC.
After doing an MBA in marketing from the School of Communication and Management Studies, Kochi, Alapatt worked with Goldwire Communications (an independent advertising agency in Chennai). During his four-year stint with the agency, he handled clients such as MRF, TTK Pharma and Burns Philip. He left the agency and joined the group’s software/ web solutions company, Goldwire SoftWeb. However, in 2000, he left the group and joined Ogilvy as group account manager.
