International Food and Beverage Awards invites entries

The FAB Awards are the only creative awards programme in the world to focus solely on creative work done for Food and Drink brands. Entries are open till February 16

The 8th International Food and Beverage (FAB) Awards are now inviting entries for 2006. The deadline for the entries is February 16, 2006. The International FAB Awards are the only international creative awards in the world that focus solely on creative work done for food and drink brands.

In India, the International FAB awards will be represented by agencyfaqs!, which will be responsible for organising promotions, including a road show and a competition with travel and tickets to the 2006 Awards Dinner and Ceremony in London.

Last year, the awards saw around 2,500 pieces of work from over 60 countries, covering television, posters, press, radio, below-the-line work, integrated campaigns, packaging and new media. The work was judged by creative directors from six countries.

For 2006, the International FAB awards have introduced certain changes. The ‘New Media’ category has been extended to online advertising, mobile, e-mail, viral marketing and websites. Design will now also include logos, brand identity, retail environment and packaging.

In addition, direct marketing, sales promotion, and collateral and point-of-sales are now part of the below-the-line media.

Neeraj Nayar, president, the International FAB Awards, says, “Through these awards, we can help creative people in India to showcase their work in advertising, design, sales promotion and new, emerging digital media to the world community.”

Last year, BBDO New York had 16 nominations -- the most by any single agency, in addition to bagging the ‘Agency of the Year’ award. Indian representation came from Atul Kasbekar and UB Group’s chairman, Vijay Mallya, who collected a ‘FAB’ award for the second year in a row, for the Kingfisher Beer Calendar.

McCann Erickson was nominated as a finalist thrice for its work for Happydent, Big Babool, and Diet Coke, respectively, while 1pointsize from Chennai got two nominations for its work on Eatalica.
