Triton’s Rajesh Puri moves to Contract

Puri joins Contract as group account director and will work closely with Pooja Balani, the agency’s associate vice-president

Triton’s group account director, Rajesh Puri, has joined Contract, Mumbai. He will retain the same designation at Contract, where he will work with associate vice-president Pooja Balani. Puri was with Triton for three years and, while there, his primary responsibility was the Eureka Forbes account.

Commenting on his move, Puri says, “Although I had a nice stint at Triton, I wanted to move into a larger agency. I wanted a system through which I could constantly push my own boundaries. Contract, which is a part of the WPP network, offers me that platform. ”

Puri started out in advertising in 1995 at Enterprise Nexus (then Enterprise Advertising), where he worked on Mahindra & Mahindra’s two brands, Armada and Classic. Two years later, when Enterprise Nexus was formed as a result of a merger, Puri moved out and joined Ambience Publicis (then Ambience Advertising), where he handled the Taj Group of Properties.

He went on to join Quadrant (the erstwhile Pratibha Advertising) – he spent four years at the agency in Mumbai before he moved to Pune. He handled several brands while at Quadrant, including Bajaj Auto, Tetra Pak and the Raheja Group of Properties. He then joined Euro RSCG, where he handled SET Max. His next move was to Triton.

According to Puri, his most memorable work at Triton was for Eureka Forbes. “In 2003,” he recounts, “we were faced with the task of repositioning Eureka Forbes. While the company was earlier focusing on the ‘clean homes’ aspect, we felt that we had to take the brand a step forward.”

So, Puri and his team thought that since an increasing number of consumers were becoming health conscious, it was best to position it as a health brand. “And it made a strong connect,” he says.
