FAB Awards ‘06: Eight nominations from India

The 8th International Food and Beverage Advertising Awards (FAB Awards) this year will witness eight nominations from India competing for the metals. Out of these eight, four nominations are from McCann-Erickson. These include a poster campaign (comprising ads ‘Kiss’, ‘Crime’ and ‘Adult’) for Big Babol in the Poster: Confectionery and Snacks category, another poster campaign for Sweetex in the Poster: Health Foods category, and two commercials for Coca-Cola, titled ‘Cadet’ and ‘Farmer’ in the TV: Non-Alcoholic Drinks category.

The other four nominations from India include Leo Burnett’s entry to publicise McDonald’s home delivery service, titled ‘Hole in Shoe’ in the Poster: The Retailers category. Also in the same category is the entry of 1pointsize, Chennai, ‘Hungry Souls’, for client Eatalica. Next is JWT, with its TVC, ‘Sucker’, for Mirinda in the TV: Non-Alcoholic Drinks category. Finally, the entry of Design Temple, Mumbai, ‘Umaid Bhavan Palace, Jodhpur’ for the Taj Group of Hotels, has been nominated in the Collateral & POS: The Retailers category.

This year, there were nearly 3,000 pieces of work entered from over 60 countries across categories such as TV, Posters, Press, Radio, Direct, Integrated Campaigns, Sales Promotion, Collateral & POS, Viral, On-Line Advertising, Websites and Packaging.

The work was judged by creative directors from several agencies around the world, including BBDO, New York, Leo Burnett, London, Chicago, Paris and Brussels, JWT, DDB, Paris, AMV BBDO, London, Saatchi & Saatchi, Geneva, McCann-Erickson, London, Frankfurt, New York and Dublin, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, London, Grey Worldwide, New York, and TBWA, Paris.

The winners will be announced on May 22 at the Hurlingham Club in London.
