SSC&B Lintas, Bangalore, wins Royal Challenge and IT portal CIOL

SSC&B Lintas, Bangalore, has added two new businesses to its kitty, both after multi-agency pitches.

One of the new accounts is Royal Challenge from the UB Group portfolio, which moves from McCann-Erickson, Bangalore. The other account is CIOL, an Indian IT portal. CIOL was being handled by freelancers earlier, but in order to bring order into the situation, the client decided to rope in an agency after calling for a multi-agency pitch (which also included a few agencies specialising in Internet advertising).

An industry source who wished to remain unnamed informed agencyfaqs! that the combined size of both the new accounts is likely to be around Rs 15 crore. However, the officials at SSC&B Lintas declined to confirm any figures.

The media mix for Royal Challenge will include mass media (which officials at SSC&B Lintas say will be used in the manner that other such brands use them), including television, press, outdoor and events, apart from in-shop materials and events at pubs and clubs. CIOL will mainly advertise online and in its in-house publications such as ‘PCQuest’ and ‘Dataquest’.

Apart from these two wins, the agency is also getting aggressive on the people front. Joining the agency are two new art directors, Sunitha Nadig and Dhritiman Mitra. Both used to be senior visualisers at Fountainhead and Law & Kenneth, respectively. They will both report to Aniruddha Ghosh, associate creative director, art, at SSC&B Lintas, Bangalore.

Some more senior level appointments are expected to be announced soon.

For the record, SSC&B Lintas, Bangalore, also handles CyberMedia Dice, the popular tech job portal, the experience of which helped in clinching the CIOL business. It also handles Gilbey’s Green Label (also from the UB Group).

It may be recalled that GS Shridhar took over as branch head and creative director at SSC&B Lintas, Bangalore, in December 2005. He promises more action soon from the agency.
