Virgin Atlantic up for review

McCann-Erickson was the incumbent creative agency on this business, while the media duties were handled by its media arm, Universal McCann

Virgin Atlantic (VA) and McCann’s relationship, it seems, has come to an end. The Richard Branson promoted airline company has invited both creative and media agencies for a pitch.

Neha Lidder, marketing manager, Virgin Atlantic (India), has confirmed this development to agencyfaqs!. However, she declined to reveal the names of the agencies that have participated in the pitch.

It is learnt that McCann-Erickson was also invited for the pitch, but it decided to stay away from the process.

The media duties of the VA business were handled by Universal McCann, the media arm of McCann-Erickson.

According to Lidder, the relationship with McCann has been very satisfying.

The company has asked the participating agencies to come up with generic presentations. Following this, the short-listed agencies will be asked to make presentations for the new communication.

A final decision on the agencies will be taken in the next few days.

Virgin Atlantic currently flies daily flights between Delhi and Mumbai to London.

Branson, who is the promoter of VA, is a brand by himself. Branson has less of a CEO image and more of a fun and youthfulness image. So much so that he has been a brand ambassador for Samsonite travel accessories.
