Pratap Bose hands over Kinetic’s reigns to Madhuri Sapru

Sapru has taken over from Bose as Kinetic’s MD. Bose was recently made O&M India’s CEO, following which there was speculation on who would head Kinetic. Sapru moves from the Tata Group

Madhuri Sapru, general manager, customer care and head, CRM, Tata Teleservices, has joined the WPP-Group M outdoor unit, Kinetic, as its managing director, South Asia. She takes over from Pratap Bose, who, in March 2006, was made O&M India’s CEO. Bose has been Kinetic’s MD since its inception in India in January 2006.

In fact, after Bose took over as O&M’s CEO, there was much speculation about who would replace him at Kinetic.

Sapru has over 17 years of experience across various industries, six of which she spent with the Tata Group, first with Tata Corporate and then at Tata Teleservices. While there, she was instrumental in setting up the Tata AOR, which was handled by The Media Edge. Prior to that, she was with BPL Telecom in Bangalore. She ran the outdoor function both at BPL and Tata Teleservices. Before that, she worked with Blow Plast and Nestle in the marketing function.

Commenting on her appointment, Bose says, “Sapru’s vast experiences across the gamut of media buying, traditional outdoor and managing large brands make her a great choice for Kinetic.”

Ashutosh Srivastava, CEO, Group M, South Asia, remarks, “Sapru is just what we needed to drive the next phase of Kinetic’s growth in India by bringing together the best of WPP and scaling up expertise in all the emerging out-of-home (OOH) channels, including digital opportunities. She will also continue driving the agenda of measurability and accountability so that our clients get the best services out of Kinetic.”

For the record, Kinetic currently comprises three units – Ogilvy Landscapes, Portland Outdoor and Wall Street David. In January 2005, the WPP Group and Group M merged the buying operations of Poster Publicity and Portland in the UK. With this merger was born the WPP Group and Group M’s global outdoor unit, Kinetic, to serve the OOH requirements of both Group M and O&M clients.

At present, five divisions comprise Kinetic’s corporate entity: Immediate Intelligence, Transzformer, Spank, OneZeroOne and Hi Resolution.
