O&M, Rediffusion DY&R and 1pointsize have made it to the ‘Communication Arts Advertising Annual’ for the year 2006.

The ‘CA Advertising Annual’, the entries for which are decided by nine leading creative directors, art directors and writers, displays 250 pages of the very best in consumer and institutional print ads along with posters and television and radio commercials. Usually, 200 plus pieces are distilled from over 14,000 entries.

1pointsize’s ‘Since 1973’ campaign, which promotes photographer Sharad Haksar, has been selected in the Self-Promotion category in the ‘Annual’. It is a three ad-campaign that brings out the fact that Haksar has been in the business of clicking images from a very young age.

“This is our first campaign in the ‘Annual’. Naturally, we are quite pleased with this news. We’ve also made it to the ‘Photography Annual of Communication Arts’ for two other works of mine,” says a jubilant Haksar, chief executive officer, 1pointsize.

Rediffusion DY&R’s campaign for Midland Bookshop has been selected in the Direct Mailer category. This campaign has been crafted, created and visualised by Hemant Anant Jain, creative director, Rediffusion DY&R. The campaign consisted of three books, ‘Lord of the Rings’, ‘The Communist Manifesto’ and ‘20,000 Leagues under the Sea’, and contained stories of people who benefited after chancing upon these stimulating books.

The design of the Fuel Vodka bottle, executed by O&M, Delhi, has been selected in the Packaging category. Titus Upputuru, creative director, O&M, says, “The bottle is shaped like a funnel. It is very different from conventional bottle designs and strikes a chord with the observer in the very first instant.” Others at O&M who worked on the Fuel brand are Vikram Basu (brand manager), Nitin Srivastava (creative director) and Ayan Das (visualiser).
