Ani will join after Sabnis ends his notice term on March 31, but the exact date has not been decided yet.

The development was confirmed by Nakul Chopra, managing director and chief executive officer, Publicis India. Chopra says, “Ambience Publicis is known for its high-quality creative and strategic work. In the recent past, the organisation has seen the coming together of top-notch advertising professionals such as Ramanuj Shastri on the creative side and Anirban Mukherjee and Partha Sinha on the strategy side. Ani’s joining will provide the required high calibre leadership to lead the organisation towards growth.”

On being questioned about quitting Mudra, Ani remarks casually, “There is absolutely nothing that went wrong with Mudra. It is an excellent place to work. It’s just that Nakul (Chopra) made me an offer that I couldn’t refuse.”

Ani’s primary mandate will be to consolidate the growth process for the agency and make sure it moves up the creative ladder. He says, “At Ambience, I will be responsible for improving the quality of the product that the agency offers the client by providing advice, strategy and ideas.”

Ani’s career spans 19 years. He started with Contract in 1988 and spent two years there before moving on to Bates, where he spent eight years. Then he joined Leo Burnett as client services director and was soon elevated as executive director and head of Leo Burnett, Mumbai. He spent six years with Leo Burnett.

After Leo Burnett, he joined Everest Brand Solutions in November 2004 as chief operating officer. He was associated with the organisation for two years before he joined Mudra.
