Several Indian agencies make it as finalists at New York Festivals

Leo Burnett leads the group of five with 12 entries in the short-list, while Lowe is quite a bit behind with six entries. Mudra has three entries on the list and RK Swamy/BBDO, one

The New York Festivals have announced the finalists for the International Advertising Competition 2007. There are eight Indian agencies that have been chosen as finalists at the competition. These are Leo Burnett, Lowe, Mudra, RK SWAMY BBDO, Dentsu Marcom, TBWA India, Brand David Communications and Sudler & Hennessey, India. Leo Burnett has got the maximum entries – 12 – on the short-list. Lowe has six finalists, Mudra has three and RK Swamy/BBDO, Dentsu Marcom, TBWA India, Brand David Communications and Sudler & Hennessey India have one entry each.

Leo Burnett’s potential winners include a press campaign for Tide, titled ‘Tide Fragrances’, in the Best Illustration category; a single press ad for Sanctuary, titled ‘Animal Tiger’, in the Print Craft Civic/Social Education category; a single press ad for Sanctuary, titled ‘Wooden Animal’, in the Civic/Social Education category; a press campaign for Prerana, titled ‘Indira Gandhi’, ‘Mother Teresa’, ‘Queen of Jhansi’, in the Philanthropic Appeals category; and a press campaign for McDonald’s, titled ‘Rs 49’, ‘Rs 25’, ‘Rs 8’, in the Retail Food category. The other seven entries from Leo Burnett are for brands Sanctuary, Salokha, Tide, Prerana, Sehat and Zero.

Lowe has six finalists. These include a direct mailer for Lakme Hairnext Conditioners, titled ‘Just Like That’, in the Direct Mail category; a media innovation for LG Vacuum Cleaners, titled ‘Hi-Power’, in the Ambient Special category; a TVC for Camlin Permanent Markers, titled ‘Rudali’, in the TV & Cinema Advertising category; a poster ad for Pepsodent Flexipick Toothbrush in the Poster category; a DM campaign for a Suspense Film Festival, titled ‘The Empty Red Envelopes’, in the Direct Mail category; and a 3D banner for Papa John’s Pizza, titled ‘Cheesy’, in the Outdoor category.

Mudra scored five finalists in the different categories. Mudra’s digital arm, Tribal DDB’s work on Sanctuary Asia titled ‘Email’ is a finalist in TV Cinema Environment Issues category. There are two entries are from Mudra South: the ‘No Diet No Mate’ hoarding for McDowell’s in the Outdoor Beverages Alcoholic category and the ‘Used Books’ hoarding for Blossom book store in the Outdoor Retail Stores category. Brand Therapist, Mudra Marketing Services’ specialised unit in the health and lifestyle segment, has been short-listed for its work on JASCAP ‘Squeezy’ in the Promo Image Awareness and Enhancement category. Mudra’s radio campaign on Big 92.7 FM titled ‘Rape Campaign’ is a finalist in the Radio Civic Social Education category.

RK SWAMY BBDO, Dentsu Marcom Delhi, TBWA Delhi, Brand David Communications and Sudler & Hennessey India each have ended up with one finalist. RK SWAMY BBDO has won the finalist in the Film Craft category for Piaggio Ape, titled ‘Deliver’. Dentsu Marcom Delhi has been nominated in the Direct Mailer category for Canon Printers titled ‘Flip’.

TBWA Delhi has scored the finalist for Pril, titled ‘Squeaky Clean’ in the Outdoor Household products, Services category and Brand David Communications has a finalist for Himani Good Morning, titled ‘Labor’, in Radio - Medical Products category. Sudler & Hennessey India, which is a health-care communication agency and a joint venture between S&H International and Rediffusion DY&R, has been nominated for its creative on ‘Brest Cancer’ in the Health & Hygiene category.

The results for the New York Festivals International Advertising Competition will be announced during the presentation ceremony on June 12-14, 2007.
