Saatchi & Saatchi, Delhi, gets planning head from Grey Worldwide

Sai Raghavan has moved to Saatchi & Saatchi, Delhi, as planning head. He will report to Sanjib Dey, executive vice-president and branch head, Saatchi & Saatchi

Sai Raghavan, strategic planning director and head of planning, Grey Worldwide, has put in his papers and is all set to join Saatchi & Saatchi on June 1. He will be the associate vice president and head of planning at Saatchi & Saatchi to lead a small planning team in Delhi.

He joined Grey Worldwide in 2005 and was reporting to Naresh Gupta, national head, account planning. The four-member planning team at the agency's Delhi branch has now been reduced to three, and is without a head. A source related to the development says that Grey Worldwide's Delhi branch is at present actively looking for a suitable replacement.

Key businesses that he has handled at Grey are Wrigley's (Orbit, Doublemint, Boomer), Suzuki motorcycles, Haier consumer durables and electronics (CTVs, refrigerators, A/Cs, washing machines), India Today, Genpact, and BSNL. Besides he played a significant role in launching Puppet Kings; Grey's study on 40+ affluent men, in 2006.

During his stint in account management, Raghavan worked briefly as a copywriter as well. He worked on brands such as Fairever, TVS Fiero and Coca-Cola. Raghavan has this to say on his move from Grey Worldwide, “Things at Grey are great. But there is something about the team at Saatchi & Saatchi that excites me a lot. Despite Grey being a considerably bigger agency, there’s a lot to be done at Saatchi & Saatchi.”

Sanjib Dey

Says Sanjib Dey, executive vice-president and branch head, Saatchi & Saatchi, Delhi, “Sai comes in to handle the planning function in Delhi, instil some discipline and put it in place. He comes with a lot of experience in various segments and will further build up the team here.”

Dey himself joined the agency recently and is all charged up to take its Delhi branch forward. After Dey joined, Ayan Chakraborty, assistant vice-president, Saatchi & Saatchi, was moved as branch head to Bangalore.
